How do you feel when someone offers you a ‘perhaps’ answer?

Is it evasion? A putting off if not a put-down?

I wonder what it would be like instead to view the word ‘perhaps’ as invitation.

Another yawning door of possibility. Potential.

A mulling over leading to a firmer decision.

An offering of choice of this or that.

[bctt tweet=”Could we see ‘perhaps’ as suggestion of change, a fresh perspective?”]

It could be all those things. Much depends on our attitude, our receptivity.

Some hear perhaps as rejection, criticism.

Other lean toward it with eager ears.

How do you hear it, my friend?

Perhaps it depends on who is saying it to you.

[bctt tweet=”Hope can be hidden in perhaps. A new venture on the horizon.”]

Extra consideration and deliberation are tentative steps toward that unknown future..

I like to think that perhaps is a way of seeing different points of view, not necessarily an excuse, evasion or uncertainty.

a deeper yes to God - WoJ

God could be at the door of your heart right now, asking you to trust Him for something new, to let go of perhaps and say a determined yes.

Perhaps you need some time and space to mull it over.

Perhaps it will demand more faith than you feel you possess.

Perhaps you can rise to the occasion and put your brave on.

Lots of unanswered questions sit here.

But there is one thing we can be confident of, no matter how things may seem to our wavering faith or uncertain hearts:

“I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for and confidently expect the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord.” ~ Psalm 27:13-14  – The Message

God’s goodness and grace surround us continually and there is no ‘perhaps’ attached to His forgiveness and mercy either.

Our hearts can rest easy in this wonderful truth.

We have a Saviour who is always here for us, offering opportunity each day to begin again.

[bctt tweet=”Perhaps this is a day to say yes to Him, to embrace the gifts that Jesus brings”]

Perhaps pausing, pondering and (most importantly) praying can bring a better outcome to life in general. It’s been that way for me. Maybe you too?

Let’s try to not hold back but to surrender our all to the One who gave everything for us.

Let’s offer God our deeper yes to embracing all the ‘perhaps’ of life with faith and confidence in His sustaining power.

This is day 27 (yes, really!) of write-31-days five-minute-free-writing and I am delighted to have made it this far. I know there’s no ‘perhaps’ about being enabled to do so by God’s goodness and grace alone. Thank you for being here with me and making this venture such an enjoyable one to participate in.

And as I take a bit of a needful break to rest more and enjoy some quality time with family, I want to share some exciting news with you.
