It’s early September, a season of new beginnings and change. Some are starting school, settling into a different class for the very first time, or going to college/university.
These are days of increasing difference. We sense it in the air. A perceptible drop in temperature signals autumn is here.
🍁 Leaves are turning russet-golden and we can either hunker down, release, or begin again. 🍁
What might it be like to willingly embrace change? To deliberately look for hope on the horizon and discover it up close and personal?
Though it can be hard when we’re stressed, pressured, or unwell, it’s always worth looking at our lives through a lens of creative possibilities.

⚡️ Creator God has put a creative spark inside each one of us. You and I have the privilege and ability to hear from Him and receive inspiration and strength for the days ahead.⚡️
We could begin a new project or resurrect a dream we once thought was dead or take up an old hobby instead. Opportunities are there for the seizing.
⏰The clocks might go back soon but we can forge forwards instead with anticipation instead of dread.⏰
Autumn could become a golden awakening, rather than an invitation to enter winter’s hibernation period. A pause to reflect on how we want to be living.

🌱 This could be a time to begin again because a fresh start is available to all of us, whatever our age or circumstances.🌱
I need this reminder as I launch into a new decade of life… gulp! Or maybe “totter into” is more precise. When you’re facing years of potential increasing infirmity, the prospect can seem a bit bleak.
Perhaps it’s better to begin with an optimistic outlook, a faith-filled heart and an expectation of a continuing adventure walking with God.
🕊 We can learn to accept our difficult situations and challenging circumstances even as we aim to rise above them with God’s help. 🕊

New things can seem daunting. I experienced that recently when I trialled a mobility scooter and gradually learnt how to handle it despite my nervous start.
Once I felt confident enough, my husband purchased one for me as an early birthday present. It’s a small, off-road only vehicle with a maximum speed of four mph.
I’m more tortoise 🐢 than hare🐇and use it just to get around the grounds of the housing complex we live in. 🛵 Because my walking ability is poor, painful and uncertain.

✝️ One thing we can be certain of in an uncertain world is the unchanging nature of God. ✝️
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8 NIV
Change might be hovering on the horizon, ready to catch us unawares especially if it’s unwelcome or life altering.
🙏🏻 God knows our worries and fears. He lovingly comes beside us to offer help, comfort and support with everything we experience. 🙏🏻
Let’s take the next brave step, holding fast to God, with these reassuring words giving us renewed hope and courage.
“Yes, be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt! For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9 TLB

Thank you for such hope-filled encouragement, Joy! As I get older and in this time of uncertainty in this world, I, too, have “to deliberately look for hope on the horizon.” And cling more tightly to God’s unchanging and faithful character. Thank you for the excerpt of peace infusing poems! Happy Birthday! Love, hugs, and blessings for strength, hope, and peace for each moment of every day! ❤️🌈🦋

Dear Trudy, it warms my heart to know you’ve been encouraged here and can see the hope within this post. I’m glad it’s relatable for you, too. You’re very welcome to the excerpt pdf of poems/blessings! The seasonal blessings are intended to be prose pieces, though some of them are based on lines from past poems. Well observed, my friend! Thank you for the lovely birthday blessings. They are gifts I need and treasure receiving any day. Love and hugs to you! x ❤️🦋🕊

Thank you so much for the beautiful birthday greeting and blessings, dear Bettie! I’m grateful for them. My works in progress usually take many months or even years to complete, but I thought this snippet selection of blessings might be appreciated even if the book is still an ongoing project, as and when energy, time and inspiration combine. As for the new decade of life, it’s already having an amazing beginning which fills me with gratitude for God’s goodness and grace. Love, hugs, and prayers for you, too, sweet friend! 💜🌺🙏🏻

Wonderfully encouraging Joy especially for those of us who are slowing down. My mobility scooter also has hare and tortoise but i cant use it at present as the angle i sot at gives me sciatica. Fortunately my hubby is an engineer so he’s looking at possible solutions. Enjoy your new decade (“I cant believe that I’m only two and a hlf years before hitting 80,). It’s great that you are sharing your writing again and thanks for the reverse birthday present. Even more of your beautiful poems to use in worship. Blessings

What a joy to see you here, Carol! It’s good to know you’ve found this post encouraging. That’s always my aim. We’re fellow tortoises who appreciate the benefits of having a mobility scooter, though I’m sorry you’re unable to use yours at present. Sciatica has plagued me, too, over the last few months but I’m usually fine on the scooter if I limit my time and days of using it. Too long sitting anywhere is a literal pain especially with sciatica, isn’t it?
I hope to enjoy my new decade even if it seems rather daunting at first. Perhaps you have similar feelings of trepidation as you draw closer to your 80th? Having chronic pain and illnesses, coupled with the ageing process, isn’t easy, that’s for sure.
But I’m so happy to be back to writing again even if I have to pace myself because of the debilitating pain in my hands. Glad you like the excerpted blessings in the pdf. Let me know if you want to use anything in worship. Blessings and love to you, dear friend. x 😊💜
